Well-designed curriculum and sound instruction are the qualities of effective education. Paradise Honors High School strives to offer a rigorous, standards-based curriculum which will enhance the learning of all students and which will prepare our students for life after high school. The work of the PHHS teaching staff and instructional assistants addresses the need to appropriately design both curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of all PHHS students. Each area of study at Paradise Honors High School is constructed from the Arizona Common Core Standards. These Standards are being implemented to ensure that all students have the academic knowledge and skills they need to be successful not only in college and/or in their career of choice but also in life.

Graduation Requirements/Credits:

Students will be required to complete a minimum of 24 credits to graduate.

·Four credits of English

·Four credits in social studies

·Four credits of mathematics
·Four credits of science
·Eight credits of additional courses including but not limited physical education,
world languages, economics, and American/Arizona Government; at least one credit of fine arts and/or career and technical education or vocational education inclusive of the eight credits
·20 hours of community service* per year
 
* Community service must be approved by PHHS, and an average of 20 hours per year must be completed by any students who attend.
State law requires all students to pass the reading, writing and mathematics section of the AIMS (Arizona Instruments to Measure Standards) in order to graduate.
Some courses at PHHS can be taken for college credit in addition to a high school credit. Those courses include Concurrent Courses taken online in the computer lab as well as dual enrollment courses (DE) taken in the classroom with a certified teacher. Dual enrollment courses (per affiliation with Maricopa County Community Colleges or other institutions of higher learning) will count as credit towards graduation per approval and provided they meet AdvancEd guidelines.
